Egypt’s Foreign Minister Completes Official Visit to Pakistan
Bilateral Talks at Foreign Office
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, visited Pakistan from 29–30 November 2025 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The two leaders held a private meeting followed by delegation‑level talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions covered the full spectrum of Pakistan–Egypt relations, including politics, trade, defence, culture, education, and health. Egypt reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s national Hepatitis C elimination programme.
Economic and Business Cooperation
Both sides agreed to concrete steps for strengthening economic ties. They decided to facilitate visas for 250 Pakistani business houses in the first phase, expanding to 500 later. Plans were announced to establish a Pakistan–Egypt Business Council and a Pakistan–Egypt Business Forum, which will convene in the second quarter of 2026 alongside the bilateral Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). The JMC will be co‑chaired by both foreign ministers.
Educational Collaboration
Dr. Abdelatty announced that Al‑Azhar University will double the number of scholarships offered to Pakistani students, further enhancing academic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Regional and International Issues
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on global developments. Pakistan appreciated Egypt’s pivotal diplomatic and humanitarian role in Gaza, particularly its efforts toward ceasefire arrangements and humanitarian assistance. Both sides reiterated their principled support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre‑1967 borders, with Al‑Quds Al‑Sharif as its capital.
Meeting with President Zardari
Dr. Abdelatty called on President Asif Ali Zardari, who emphasized the historic ties between Pakistan and Egypt and expressed Pakistan’s desire to elevate the partnership across all domains. The meeting also touched on regional stability and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Defence and Security Cooperation
The Egyptian Foreign Minister met Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters. Discussions focused on defence and security cooperation, military exchanges, training collaborations, and regional peace. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued high‑level engagement between their armed forces.
Engagement with Business Community
Dr. Abdelatty also interacted with members of Pakistan’s business community in Islamabad, highlighting opportunities for expanding trade and investment partnerships.
Outlook
The visit of Egypt’s Foreign Minister contributed to strengthening the longstanding Pakistan–Egypt relationship. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen cooperation across all areas of mutual interest and to continue working together for regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
