Lahore (Republic Pk) The token tax rate for vehicles in Punjab has been increased 3 times after 20 years and now showroom owners will be fined heavily for delivering vehicles to owners without registration. It is also proposed to set sales tax at 8 percent on payments made through credit or debit cards in hotels.
According to the finance bill, instead of imposing new taxes, it has been proposed to increase the rate of existing taxes. It is proposed to increase the token tax on commercial loader vehicles by up to 3 times.
The document stated that the tax on a loader vehicle with a load of 4060 kg to 8110 kg has been increased from 2200 to 6600 rupees, and on a vehicle with a load of 8120 kg to 12000 kg, it is proposed to increase the tax from 4000 to 12000 rupees.
Similarly, it was proposed to increase the tax on vehicles with a load of 12,000 to 16,000 kg from Rs 6,000 to Rs 18,000 and on vehicles with a load of more than 16,000 kg from Rs 8,000 to Rs 24,000.
The document further said that it has been decided to increase the token tax rate on vehicles above 1,000 cc. The token tax on vehicles with a capacity of 1,000 to 2,000 cc will increase by 0.1 percent on the invoice, while a proposal to increase the tax on vehicles above 2,000 cc from 0.3 percent to 0.4 percent of the invoice is under consideration.
According to the bill, it has been proposed to set sales tax at 8 percent on payments made through credit or debit cards in hotels and increase sales tax on various general services from 5 percent to 8 percent, while a 3 percent tax will also be imposed on the services of foreign exchange companies and money changers.
